At Full Fact your work will be seen by millions of people and help to tackle the harm caused by false and misleading information.

You’ll be working across web, email, social, and print making sure our visual identity is consistent and strong, contributing to a refresh of our communications and to an overhaul of our website.

You will play a key role in improving Full Fact’s website, collaborating with our product manager and web developer, crafting new features and enriching the user experience to ensure that all our work is as comprehensible, engaging, shareable and high-impact as it can be.

As a graphic designer you will be working as part of the communications team, closely collaborating with our editorial and automated factchecking teams. You will work with stakeholders in all teams to evolve Full Fact’s visual identity across platforms including web, email, social and print: from information visualisations that explain complex concepts in clear and compelling ways, to reports that have impact at the highest levels of government, and campaigns that engage tens of thousands of supporters.

Alongside the editorial and web teams you will also be involved in the refresh of Full Fact’s website, crafting new features and improving the user experience to ensure our work is as comprehensible, findable and shareable as it can be.

Designer

You are responsible for Full Fact’s visual identity across platforms including web, email, social and print, from information visualisations that explain complex concepts in clear and compelling ways, to reports that have impact at the highest levels of government, to campaigns that engage tens of thousands of supporters.

You’ll make sure our visual identity is consistent and strong, contributing to a refresh of our communications and to an overhaul of our website.

Outcomes

  • Evolve Full Fact’s visual identity across all our outputs
  • Design and create reusable sustainable tools and templates for use across Full Fact’s teams
  • Design new features for the Full Fact website, alongside the web team
  • Work with colleagues across all our teams to identify needs and help them use design to have greater impact
  • Working with the editorial team, expand Full Fact’s data visualisation capabilities and identify opportunities to apply them
  • Work with the communications team to ensure our communications look incredible
  • Prioritise work to deliver the maximum impact

What we are looking for from you

Political impartiality and sensitivity

  • You are committed to the political neutrality of our work and a have good understanding of impartiality (please see the rules on our website https://fullfact.org/about/jobs/)

Design skills

  • Deep experience with design and illustration software including broad knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite
  • Demonstrable interest in data visualisation and commitment to best practices
  • Demonstrable understanding of what makes a compelling and useful user experience
  • Desired: some experience with HTML/CSS/Javascript
  • Desired: some experience of evolving and showcasing an organisation’s brand

Personal skills

  • Ability to communicate with diverse stakeholders and identify user needs
  • Experience of working with agile developers
  • Some experience working in a news or similar high intensity information environment would be a bonus

What we offer

  • Starting salary of £30,000─35,000 (plus pension) depending on experience
  • 25 days holiday plus bank holidays. We also close the office for a period between Christmas and New Year
