We’re hiring: Chief Executive

Bad information ruins lives. It promotes hate, damages people’s health, and hurts democracy.

Full Fact is an award-winning UK-based independent charity that works to promote accuracy and honesty in public debate and combat misinformation.

By fact checking and asking people to correct the record when they get things wrong, Full Fact seeks to reduce the spread of bad information. Millions of people rely on our work, whether it’s to make vital health decisions or to decide who to trust with their vote.

We don’t take sides. We were launched by a cross-party group, and our board includes representatives of different political parties and viewpoints.

The Role

This is an opportunity to lead a campaigning organisation that intends to change the information environment, mobilising thousands of people who, like us, feel we all deserve better than bad information.

Full Fact’s CEO is the public face of a significant change movement in the world. You will be engaging with, challenging, and advocating among some of the most senior and influential individuals from political parties, companies including internet companies, government, the media, and civil society, and will require a high degree of independence and respect for facts and for the views of others.

It’s an important and fascinating time to take on this role. The next general election could be a turning point for campaign standards—in one direction or another. The rise of generative AI creates a whole new set of opportunities and challenges. Lack of faith in politicians, politics, and government has been a top ten issue for the public for a long time, currently ahead of even topics like immigration and housing in public concern according to the Ipsos Issues Index.

As CEO, you will be responsible for leading Full Fact's strategic vision and overseeing the day-to-day operations of the organisation. You will work closely with our staff, board of trustees, and external stakeholders to ensure that Full Fact is at the forefront of factchecking and is making a positive impact on public discourse in the UK.

We are looking for applications from leaders with a commitment to promoting accuracy in public debate and increasing accountability of those in power. You will be able to effect change, exercise political judgement, mobilise large groups of supporters, fundraise for the organisation, and safeguard Full Fact for the future. You will need a good understanding of the online information ecosystem.

We understand that different candidates will have different strengths and those may not exactly match what is in the job spec. We are keen to hear from you whether or not you have previously had a CEO role. If you are not sure whether to apply, please do.
