Mayoral debate

A Full Fact investigation has found that earlier this month at least nine council websites were claiming mayoral or police commissioner elections use the ‘Supplementary Vote’ system.

This is not correct. Mayoral and police commissioner elections now use ‘First Past the Post’, where voters select a single candidate.

Elections error

A photo of flames and smoke coming from a ship has been circulating on social media with claims it shows a German warship retreating from Yemen.

This is not true. The photo was actually taken in 2018 after a German warship misfired a missile during a training exercise off the coast of Norway.
