Full Fact at News Impact Summit, London

12 May 2016 | Amy Hawkins

Full Fact has two main aims for the EU referendum: provide voters with the information they’re looking for, and equip journalists with the information they need to scrutinise the campaigns effectively.

It was in pursuit of the second aim that our Director and senior researchers spoke to the European Journalism Centre’s News Impact Summit in London today The event was jointly hosted with Google News Lab and Polis, the journalism think tank at the London School of Economics.

We know that journalists often don’t have the time or the statistical expertise to tackle complicated claims on a deadline. This is where Full Fact helps: we spoke to the journalists about how to challenge statistical claims effectively, how to communicate technical information rapidly and reliably, and why Full Fact isn’t interested in how people vote - we just want to provide everyone with the information they need to make up their minds.

We were just one panel in a day packed with exciting events. You can see the full programme and register for future events here.

You can watch the talk in full below. Thank you to the European Journalim Centre for filming it, and for letting us use this video.

Full Fact fights bad information
