Is the Guardian the first news app to send push notifications to readers about corrections?

Guardian app push notification

This week the Guardian app popped up with a notification alerting phone users to a correction to one of its pieces.

It's a very good way of making sure readers are aware of corrections to articles—and it could be targeted just at those readers who saw the original. Much better than relying on readers to either read the corrections column or check back through previously read articles to see if anything has been corrected.

We'd like to know if any other apps are doing this. If not, we're hoping this might set a precedent for others to follow suit.

Update 12:35

One of our readers has told us the app for the Irish state broadcaster RTÉ has also sent notifications of corrections.

Update 18:10

Another reader on Facebook thinks the correction pushed out might refer to an earlier notification on the app, rather than a substantive correction to the relevant article. We're checking this with the Guardian and will revise our piece if necessary.

Update 11/06/2015

The Guardian told us the notification was to correct a typo in the previous notification rather than about a change in the article itself. More on this here.
