Italian politician Maria Elena Boschi exposed her underwear during her swearing-in ceremony.

Our verdict

Incorrect. The image which supposedly shows this is an edited version of a real photo.

A photo apparently showing Italian politician Maria Elena Boschi exposing her underwear has been shared thousands of times on Facebook.

However, the photo has been edited. The original photo is of Ms Boschi being sworn into government in 2014 and does not show her exposing her underwear.

The edited photo has been in circulation for a number of years and has also been widely debunked.
