It has been said that UK pensioners receive less than legal or illegal immigrants per year, is this true?

We've checked a viral claim before that compares what immigrants and British pensioners get in benefits. 

People here illegally can’t collect benefits, but there’s no definitive or even useful way to compare who gets more overall. You can see all the figures we checked here. The Migration Observatory at the University of Oxford has a useful briefing on what immigrants claim compared to UK-born people as a whole.
