British Academy report: 'Choosing an Electoral System':

The British Academy is the official UK body for academics in the Humanities and Social Sciences, which produces data and research in these fields. Their report on the AV system compares the advantages and disadvantages of the system with other alternatives in use around the world.

Electoral Reform Society:

The Electoral Reform Society is an organisation that has long argued for proportional representation, although it has backed and donated to the YES campaign. Their website contains some details on the perceived advantages and disadvantages of PR.

Institute for Public Policy Research (IPPR):

Left-of-centre think tank IPPR's report: "Worst of Both Worlds: why First Past the Post no longer works" gives a history and analysis of the impact of First Past the Post voting on British elections over the last century. The report concludes that AV is preferable to FPTP.

Jenkins Report:

The Jenkins Commission was established in 1997 by the incoming Labour Government to look at possible voting systems to replace the First Past the Post system. It produced an extensive report that analysed a number of different electoral systems, eventually recommending a switch to AV+.
