Election update, 26 April: a test of endurance
Housing is back on the agenda today, with Labour's pledge to cap rent increases featuring on the front page of The Observer and The Sunday Times. Read our housing briefing for more background; we'll be trying to shed some more light on rent specifically over the course of the day, as well as covering Ed Miliband's appearance on the Andrew Marr Show.
Other newspapers focus on potential party alliances post-election. The Daily Mail leads with a story on a possible Labour/SNP pact, which it calls the "worst crisis since abdication", while the FT's front page reports that Nick Clegg has ruled out a coalition with Labour if it's propped up by the SNP. We've already written about the rules on which party gets first chance to form government after the election.
The Sunday Times also claims that Britain's 'super-rich' have doubled their wealth since 2009. We've looked in the past at the share of wealth held by the top 1%.
Finally, the London marathon is taking place this morning. With less than a fortnight to go until the election, we're working our way through a marathon of our own: factchecking the election manifestos. We'll be publishing a manifesto report next week.
