Campaigns

Everyone deserves good information. That’s why we call on policymakers, media outlets and journalists, academics and tech companies to make sure their standards enforce transparent, high quality information.

We’re campaigning to:

Tackle bad information online

Through our fact checking we see too many examples of bad information spreading online. We believe that both internet companies and governments have a role in reducing this. We want to see the UK government develop evidence based, proportionate regulation that protects freedom of speech. And we want to see the internet companies take clear steps to improve access to good information and improve transparency.

Protect our elections

UK electoral law is dangerously outdated and no longer fit for purpose. Voters in 2019 were left exposed to misleading and inappropriate campaign tactics from all sides. We want to see vital reforms that demand proper transparency and accountability for the information and claims made in online campaigns.

Improve the quality of information in public debate

Good quality information is fundamental to our daily lives. We want to ensure that the right information is available to the right people at the right time, whether that is by ensuring that official statistics and information produced by the government properly serves the public good, or through more open and easily accessible data.

What we won't campaign on is the choices voters and politicians make. Full Fact's role and our campaigning are limited to helping inform and improve public debate. Aside from the kinds of things we talk about on this page, what side you take on any debate, and what conclusions you reach, are up to you.
